The Twelve Days of Butter – DAY 12

Today is the day! The new HBR album “Hot Buttered Rum” is officially out, available on iTunes, Spotify, etc and of course on our website.  We’ll see a lot of you tonight at Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael. Bo and Lebo go on at 8.

Here is the final track for your streaming pleasure:

Here’s what composer Nat Keefe had to say about this one:

“‘Doctor’s Daughter’ is about being in a good groove with your lady. It all started with a small earthquake, the ‘raised on love and Hetch Hetchy water’ and ‘so many men see their dreams in you’ lines and it flowed easily from there. Hetch Hetchy is the reservoir from where San Francisco gets its water.”

DOCTOR’S DAUGHTER      -Nat Keefe

So many men see their dreams in you

So many dreams only one will come true

I’ll do my best to see it through—

The green-eyed girl, the doctor’s daughter

Raised on love and Hetch Hetchy water

I’m so glad for all they taught her—

I can’t stand to see you feeling down

I can’t stand to see you scared of what might come around

Cause the earth could shake and quake at any time

When the dust has settled, you’ll still be mine all mine

Hey hey my my, wipe those tears from your eyes

Hey hey wo wo, in the cracks of the pavement the sweet grass grows

Hey hey my my, turn your face up to the sky

Hey hey wo wo, in the cracks of the pavement the sweet grass grows

The light the curtains the silhouette

The radio plays a sweet duet

If there’s better I aint seen it yet—

I deserve everything I get

But I’m about willing to forget

The lipstick on the cigarette—
